Rick’s values were shaped early on by his parents, Nancy and Dr. James L. Scherer, who moved their family to Tampa when his father founded TOWER Diagnostic Center (now TOWER Imaging). Their legacy of integrity, vision, and service continues to influence how Rick leads, communicates, and builds relationships today.
Before real estate, Rick developed a distinguished career in hospitality — first at Bern’s Steak House, where he learned the importance of anticipating needs and delivering exceptional service, and later at The Ritz-Carlton, where he advanced into a corporate training role known for shaping the brand’s legendary service culture. Those experiences refined his communication style, strengthened his leadership skills, and instilled a standard of excellence that informs every client interaction. He also spent years renovating and flipping homes, deepening his knowledge of design, construction, and the emotional nuances that influence value.
Rick earned his degree in Economics from Washington & Lee University, a foundation that enhances his strategic approach to real estate. He is known for distilling complex market dynamics into clear, actionable guidance and for balancing data with intuition — helping clients understand not just the “what” of a decision, but the “why” behind it. His business today centers on luxury residential and waterfront properties across Tampa Bay, with a strong emphasis on South Tampa, St. Petersburg, Lutz, and Odessa. His clients include physicians, executives, entrepreneurs, and relocating professionals who value discretion, insight, and a concierge-level experience.

He has served with the Tampa Museum of Art and the Tampa Theatre and supports several charitable organizations including Florida Boxer Rescue, Feeding Tampa Bay, Habitat for Humanity, The Spring of Tampa Bay, and various hurricane-relief initiatives. Nearly fluent in Spanish, he also holds CLHMS and Million Dollar Guild designations and has earned recognition including Rookie of the Year, Developer’s Service Awards, service on the Developers Advisory Board, and leading the #1 Sales Team at Premier Sotheby’s International Realty’s South Tampa office.
At home in downtown Tampa, Rick enjoys the walkability to neighborhood shops, dining, the arts, and the city’s diverse cultural energy. He is also an AKC Exhibitor and Breeder of Merit, recognized by the American Boxer Club and American Kennel Club. He shares life with his two Boxers, Love and Cooper, who bring balance, joy, and a reminder of the importance of home — something at the heart of every real estate journey.
